Pensonic posts higher Q4 pre-tax loss (9997)

KUALA LUMPUR: Pensonic Holdings Bhd recorded a higher
pre-tax loss of RM11.955 million for the fourth quarter ended May
31, 2012 against a pre-tax loss of RM247,000 recorded in the same
period last year.
Revenue rose to RM94.413 million, from RM67.695 million registered
previously, mainly due to increased demand from Asia, Middle East and
local customers.
In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Pensonic said global electrical
appliance manufacturers and distributors were witnessing a
continuous decline in profit margins with a sharp rise in raw material
prices.
The current trend also showed manufacturers' inability
to pass on the cost to consumers because of the intense competition in
the industry, it added.
On prospects, the company said cost containment, productivity and
operation efficiency to strengthen the group's competitiveness in the
market would continue to be a key focus area. -- BERNAMA
