P&O gets offer from S. African firm (6009)

PETALING JAYA: Pacific & Orient Insurance Co Bhd (P&O) has been approached by Sanlam Ltd to acquire 49% equity interest in the company.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, P&O said Sanlam was one of the largest financial services group in South Africa and was listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
It said approval had been obtained from Bank Negara to begin preliminary negotiations for the proposed divestment of the equity interest in P&O.
