KUALA LUMPUR (March 13): Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd has awarded eight more contracts for the Klang Valley MRT Sungai Buloh-Kajang alignment project with a total value of RM397 million.

The award is a clear indication that progress on the CONSTRUCTION [] of the MRT Line is moving into a new gear, with the last contract to be awarded in 2014, its Chief Executive Officer Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid said.

"There are 21 work packages left to be awarded for the construction of the Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT Line," he said in a statement today.

"We will always ensure that the tendering process is conducted meticulously so that the best can be derived to build this massive project," Azhar said.

MRT Corp, which aims to be a leader in the industry, is always looking at improving construction processes and requirements, he said.

"We would like this project to become an industry benchmark, where its timely delivery is a key point, as it is for the public's benefit," he said.

MRT Corp said two contracts were awarded yesterday including for the design, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of noise barriers and enclosures worth RM202 million to Muhibbah-SV-Samjung JV.

A RM50.7 million contract was awarded to SMPP-Ibwani JV for the construction and completion of the multi-storey car park building, external works and other associated works at Kajang Station.

Meanwhile, on March 6, a RM22 million contract was awarded to Fastcoll Corporation Sdn Bhd for the supply, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of the environmental control system for elevated packages V5 to V8 and the Kajang Depot.

Kejuruteraan Astra Sdn Bhd was awarded a RM44.2 million job for the supply, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of the environmental control system for elevated packages V1 to V4 and the Sungai Buloh Depot.

A RM6.7 million contract was also awarded to Info-Matic Power Sdn Bhd for the supply, delivery and supervision of installation, testing and commissioning of uninterruptible power supply for all elevated stations.

A RM42.5 million contract for the supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the lift system for all elevated packages, Sungai Buloh Depot and multi-storey car parks was awarded to Otis Elevator Company (M) Sdn Bhd.

The statement noted that Zulfan (M) Sdn Bhd was awarded a RM18.8 million contract for the supply, procurement, installation, testing and commissioning of the fire detection and protection system for elevated packages V5 to V6.
The last contract, worth RM10.1 million, was awarded to PTIS Engineering Sdn Bhd for the supply, delivery and supervision of the installation, testing and commissioning of the step-down distribution transformer for all elevated packages, Sungai Buloh Depot and Kajang Depot.
