KUALA LUMPUR (May 29): The aluminium-product manufacturer
PRESS METAL BHD [] has registered a net profit of RM25.2 million in
its first financial quarter ended Mar 31, 2013, up 11.6% from last year’s
RM22.6 million.
Its revenue also increased 37.9% year-on-year to RM724.2 million from
RM724.2 million.
In a filling to Bursa today, Press Metal Bhd said that the high turnover
was mainly contributed by its Bintulu smelting plant, which commenced
operations in the last quarter.
Its earnings per share however fell to 4.97 sen from 5.14 sen a year
ago.
“The overall business environment remains challenging,” it said, adding
that the volatility of foreign currencies and the low commodity prices are
the key challenges to its management.
