KLCI futures closes mostly lower on profit-taking

KUALA LUMPUR (Aug 14): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed mostly lower today, on profit-taking after the spot month contract closed above 1,800-point level yesterday, a dealer said.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer, Liam Kian Yap, said the index could re-test the 1,800-point level in the short term and its immediate support level was likely to be at 1,790.

At the close, spot month August 2013 lost 4.5 points to 1,796, and September 2013 and December 2013 dropped four points each to 1,792.5 and 1,792 respectively.

March 2014 added two points to 1,798.5.

Turnover declined to 3,991 lots from 5,969 lots on Tuesday, while open interest was down to 40,186 contracts from 41,038 contracts previously.

The underlying FBM KLCI closed 1.36 points lower at 1,793.73.
