SEPANG (Aug 19): The passenger service charge (PSC) at KLIA2 will be the same as the low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT), said Deputy Transport Minister Datuk Aziz Kaprawi.

He said it would not burden the passengers as the cost would be borne by Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).

"No increase. You just imagine at the services at LCCT that they are facing now, they will get the new airport at the same airport fee.

"It won't burden the passengers. MAHB will bear the cost because MAHB is a company that managed this terminal and even for financing, MAHB got it through Sukuk bonds and they got it privately, without government back up guarantee," he said.

Aziz told a press conference this after the third meeting of the KLIA2 Task Force here today.

The PSC at the current LCCT is RM32 for international passengers and RM6 for domestic passengers.

Aziz, who headed the KLIA2 Task Force, said the CONSTRUCTION [] of the airport was 92 per cent complete and the terminal building was 96 per cent complete, with 20 major packages completed.

These are the district cooling system, ERL track, taxiway linking Runway 2 to KLIA2, air traffic control (ATC), tower, ATC equipment installation, elevated roads to the terminal, eastern aircraft parking apron, together with all associated main drainage and utility works.
Aziz said the KLIA2 will be completed by April 30 next year and will be operational by May 2.

"We want to make sure they will be no more delay and I assure you that they will no more delay and completion date will be on April 30," he said, adding that the cost of KLIA2 will be RM4 billion.

He said there is no cost overrun in the construction as the scope had been expanded to cater to the stakeholders' requirements.

In a statement, the ministry said the work components that were facingdelays would be reviewed by the MAHB KLIA2 project team for reassignment to other third party contractors, if the responsible contractors were not able to
meet the respective deadlines.

It said some of the works that had been assigned to new contrctors were the service road, airport fire and rescue building and baggage handling system.
