KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 9): The ringgit ended slightly lower against the US dollar today on lack of buying demand for the local note, dealers said.

The ringgit was quoted at 3.1980/1020 against the greenback from Tuesday's 3.1940/1970. 

The dealer said the local note was lower against the dollar as most
investors stayed on the sidelines to await market direction, given external economic uncertainty.

"The ringgit was traded at between 3.1925 and 3.2142 today," he
said. However, against other currencies, the local note was traded higher.

Against the Singapore dollar, it rose to 2.5545/5581 from 2.5570/5603 yesterday and increased to 3.2830/2881 from 3.2911/2959 versus the yen.

It ended higher against the British pound at 5.1078/1149 from yesterday's 5.1296/1350 and appreciated against the euro to 4.3250/3313 from 4.3346/3393 at Tuesday's close.
