KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 12): Malaysia's fourth-quarter current account surplus widened to 16.2 billion ringgit ($4.86 billion) from 9.8 billion ringgit in the previous quarter, central bank data showed on Wednesday.
For the whole of 2013, the Southeast Asian country's current account recorded a 37.3 billion ringgit surplus, down from 2012's 57.3 billion ringgit.
Net direct investment in the fourth quarter posted an inflow of 4.0 billion ringgit, from a 2.0 billion ringgit outflow in the previous quarter.
The net portfolio investment outflow was 700 million ringgit, from a 9.7 billion ringgit outflow in the third quarter.
