KUALA LUMPUR (Feb 3): Hong Leong Industries Bhd's share price gained as much as 28 sen or 5% this morning to reach a high of RM5.90 after the group reported a stellar set of financial results for its second quarter ended Dec 31, 2015 (2QFY16) yesterday.

The group, which is involved in the manufacturing and assembly of motorcycle engines and parts, as well as the manufacture and sale of motorcycles and ceramic tiles, reported a 2QFY16 net profit of RM74.25 million, which is more than double its 2QFY15 net profit of RM35.62 million thanks to higher profit contribution from an associated company.

Revenue for 2QFY16 rose 1.4% to RM542.88 million from RM535.56 million a year ago.

On its prospects, Hong Leong Industries said it expects the performance of both its consumer product (sale of motorcyles and ceramic tiles) and industrial product segments (manufacturing and assembly of motorcycle engines and parts) to be satisfactory in FY16.

At 10:28am, Hong Leong Industries' share price was up 19 sen or 3.4% from its close yesterday at RM5.81 with a market capitalisation of RM1.8 billion.
