SEPANG: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) is confident of achieving double-digit growth in the year ending December 31 2011 on stronger growth in traffic at both its low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Its chief financial officer, Faizal Mansor, said traffic growth at both airports has surpassed figures recorded by other neighbouring airports.

He was speaking to reporters at a briefing on MAHB's second-quarter results here yesterday.

"We can see the LCCT leading the way, and with MAS getting new airlines and a terminal, one will see KLIA as a hub to be reckoned with," he said.

MAHB's first-half results ended June 30 2011 have shown revenue growth of 23.5 per cent to RM1.26 billion from RM1.02 billion previously.

Its net profit the first six months rose to RM170.04 million from RM132.75 million before.

Faizal said MAHB is bidding for several projects abroad, in countries such as China, Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.

"In China, we have very little breakthrough, while in Indonesia, we are still talking to our neighbours on sharing our experience with them," he said.

On its ongoing bid to help manage the Medina airport in Saudi Arabia, Faizal said the full results of the bid will be known by year-end.

"We are the only Asian bidding for the job, " he added
