Labuan Shipyard gets certifications
Labuan Shipyard & Engineering (LSE) has received ISO 9001:2008 and OHSAS 18001:2007 certifications.
LSE
chief executive officer Mohd Azman Nasir said Bureau Veritas
Certification (Malaysia) chief executive officer Ir Othman Abdul Kadir
handed over the certificates of accreditation to him during the recent
Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace (LIMA) Exhibition.
"With
the attainment of the ISO and OHSAS certifications, we look forward to
and are confident to be of continuous service to our clients. This is
our commitment to them and all our stakeholders," he said.
LSE
is a major shipyard and fabrication yard located in Labuan. Its core
businesses are shipbuilding, ship repair and offshore oil and gas
engineering.
Azman said LSE was very much involved in providing services to the
security agencies in the country including the Royal Malaysian Navy
(RMN) and the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA).
"We have good track records in delivering to the full expectations and satisfaction of our clients.
"Among
our achievements are the successful upgrading and refurbishment of two
units of MCMV (Mine Counter Measure Vessel) Batch 1 and vessel long
refit for the RMN, apart from the various works we have undertaken for
the MMEA," he said.
He said all these jobs were implemented
successfully in strict compliance with the requirements of international
quality and safety standards. -- Bernama
