Palm oil stock at 5-month low
Palm oil inventory in Malaysia, the world's second-biggest supplier after Indonesia, probably declined to a five-month low in January after production fell for a third month, according to a Bloomberg News survey. Stockpiles fell 2.4% to 1.99 million tonnes, dropping below the 2 million-mark for the first time since August, according to the median estimate in a survey of three analysts and two plantation companies. Inventories were 1.42 million tonnes a year earlier, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board, which is scheduled to publish its estimates on Feb 10. (Source: The Star)
IJM not expected to up stake in KEuro as future finances may be affected
Construction conglomerate IJM Corp Bhd is unlikely to increase its stake in Kumpulan Europlus Bhd (KEuro) despite the potentially huge contracts spin-off from the RM7.07bil West Coast Expressway (WCE) project that the latter has recently secured. This, according to a source close to the WCE project, is to ensure that the debts of KEuro will not have to be consolidated into IJM's books. (Source: The Star)
