Market Thoughts


European stocks closed slightly down on Monday as euro zone debt concerns moved west to Spain and other peripheral countries. Meanwhile, US stocks wrapped up a lackluster trading day as industrials maintained a positive tone despite weakness in technology and banks. Trading with little conviction and in an extremely tight range, stocks waddled around throughout the day, as investors held on for news later this week out of the Federal Reserve's scheduled policy meeting.

On the local market, the FBM KLCI plunged 14.25 points to 1564.75 yesterday. The index reversed its upward trend after failing to beat its resistance of 1597 points last week. We expect the uncertain market condition to continue and the KLCI could continue to move sideways with a negative bias. For the downside, the immediate support is at 1530 points.
