AirAsia climbs on Apr passenger traffic surge

AirAsia Bhd, Southeast Asia’s biggest budget carrier, rose the most in a
week in Kuala Lumpur trading after passenger traffic surged in April
from a year earlier.

The stock climbed 3.3 per cent to RM3.10 at 10:19 a.m. local time, set for its largest increase since May 11.

AirAsia carried 19.2 per cent more passengers in April compared to a
year earlier for its Malaysian operations, according to an e-mailed
statement today.

Passenger traffic for its Thailand operations climbed 26.1 per cent
last month while traffic in Indonesia grew 31.3 per cent, the Sepang,
Selangor state-based company, said. -- Bloomberg
