Bose Corp to build plant in Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR: Bose Corporation, a company that specialises in audio equipment, is to build a manufacturing facility in Malaysia.

To be located in Batu Kawan, Penang, it is scheduled for opening, in mid-2013.

"The investment is multi-phase and multi-layer," its Vice President Manufacturing and Global Supply Chain, Bryan Fontaine, told reporters here today.

He, however, declined to elaborate on the total investment in Malaysia.

Bose Corporation was founded in 1964 by Dr Amar G Bose, then professor of electrical engineering, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

As an MIT grad student in the 1950s, Bose decided to purchase a new stereo system.

He was disappointed to find that speakers with impressive technical specifications failed to reproduce the realism of a live performance.
