KUALA LUMPUR (April 15): Bluechips on Bursa Malaysia remained almost unchanged at mid-afternoon today, but the broader market was weak due to profit-taking, dealers said.
At 3.01 pm, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) stood at 1,699.28 points, up 0.75 of a point from the 1,698.53 points recorded at close last Friday.
A dealer said gains in PLANTATION []-related stocks lent support to the CI and prevented further decline.
Topping the list of contributors to the CI, Sime Darby soared 19 sen to RM9.48, while IOI Crop chalked up 11 sen to RM4.98.
The INDUSTRIAL INDEX [] gained 11.36 points to 2,910 and the Plantation Index rose 24.22 points to 8,138.76, but the Finance Index dipped 22.03 points to 15,877.96.
The FBM Emas Index declined 17.55 points to 11,609.46, the FBMT100 eased 13.8 points to 11,441.45, the FBM Ace Index fell 57.88 points to 3,992.8 and the FBM Mid 70 Index lost 94.47 points to 12,823.16.
Losers led gainers 471 to 145, with 241 counters unchanged, 766 untraded and 30 others suspended.
Turnover stood at 547.116 million shares worth RM753.309 billion.
Among actives, Nextnation Communication and CLIQ Energy shed half-a-sen to 10.5 sen and 60 sen respectively, while Mulpha International slipped one sen to 10.5 sen.
For the heavyweights, Maybank and Axiata Group gained three sen each to RM9.63 and RM6.73 respectively. CIMB Group lost five sen to RM7.66 and Petronas Chemicals shed one sen to RM6.45.
