SINGAPORE (May 7): Malaysia and its closest neighbour, Singapore,
enjoy a long-standing, friendly and multi-faceted relationship.
Going forward, bilateral relations between the two countries would
benefit with the ruling party returning to power at the federal level, said
Malaysian High Commissioner to Singapore Datuk Md Hussin Nayan.
"I noted a great sense of relief amongst the many friends of Malaysia in
Singapore, now that the so-called "uncertainty" was really unfounded.
"The election results indicate, once again, that the Malaysian resolve
towards creating a stable, peaceful and economically progressive
nation, is as strong and unstoppable," he said when contacted by
Bernama.
"Once the new Malaysian Government is formed, the two governments can be accepted to proceed with planned
collaborative projects to enhance transport infrastructural facilities and strengthen industrial complimentarily between the two
countries," he said.
Malaysia and Singapore are in the final stages of their plan on the proposed rapid transport system (RTS) linking the republic
and the state of Johor that will enhance people-to-people links.
Both countries have also agreed to build a 300km High Speed Rail linking Singapore and Kuala Lumpur. -- BERNAMA
