Sime Darby awards RM82.9m job to Zecon, sells building for RM124mil

KUALA LUMPUR: Sime Darby Bhd's unit has awarded a RM82.9mil contract to Zecon Bhd for a 10-storey commercial building in Setapak here.
It said on Thursday Sime Darby Property Bhd
had awarded the contract for the Melawati Corporate Centre project,
which would consist of retail shops and offices. Work was scheduled to
begin in May and to be completed in 2015.
In a separate statement, the conglomerate said its subsidiaries sold its Oasis Square property in Ara Damansara to Brunsfield Oasis Tower Sdn Bhd for RM124mil.
Its subsidiaries were Sime Darby Ara Damansara Development Sdn Bhd and Sime Darby Brunsfield Holding Sdn Bhd (SDBH).
Sime Darby said it was expected to gain RM10.86mil from the sale of the property. The property was valued at RM115mil by VPC Alliance KL Sdn Bhd in its report dated March 29.
The
sale would allow the group to optimise the allocation of its capital to
maximise its returns on investments. The proceeds would be used to
finance SDBH's working capital.
