KUALA LUMPUR, (Aug 6): The ringgit extended yesterday's gains to open higher against the US dollar this morning on continued buying interest for emerging Asian currencies, including the ringgit, dealers said.

At 9.05 am today, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2250/2280 per greenback from 3.2300/2330 at 5 pm yesterday.

Against the Singapore dollar, the domestic currency appreciated to 2.5460/5500 from 2.5481/5525 Monday but against the yen, the local note declined to 3.2901/2942 from 3.2815/2852 yesterday.

Against the British pound, the ringgit strengthened to 4.9533/9592 from 4.9593/9652 on Monday and emerged stronger against the euro at 4.2770/2816 from 4.2911/2960 yesterday.
