KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 30): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed mixed today, affected by lack of buying interest.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer Tan Sek Wei said investors were cautious over the upcoming Malaysian Budget 2014, to be tabled on Oct 25, that drives down market sentiment.

Tan said investors are also pondering about the US political impasse over the federal budget, whether it will hurt the economy.
"There is a possibility that the US government will shut down, if the condition of removal implementation healthcare law is not agreed tomorrow," he told Bernama.

At close, September 2013 gained one point to 1,776, and March 2014 rose three points to 1,769.

October 2013 fell nine points to 1,772, and December 2013 was 8.5 points lower at 1,772.5.

Turnover slightly increased to 15,623 lots from last Friday's 15,502, while open interest added to 65,705 contracts, from 62,135 contracts last week.

The underlying FBM KLCI closed 7.54 points lower, at 1,768.62.
