KUALA LUMPUR (April 08): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI Futures (FKLI) contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives, closed lower today, on lack of buying support.

Spot month April 2014 and June 2014, fell 7.0 points each to 1,853 and 1,846 respectively, while May 2014 decreased 6.0 points to 1,847, and September 2014 declined 5.0 points to 1,845.

The FKLI declined on opening, after gains in three consecutive sessions, tracking the fall of the US markets on tech sell-off, Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd dealer, Thomas Yew Jia-Jong said.

He said the index has actually been resilient, with buying support from local funds, amid weaker regional and US markets last week.

"Despite falling today, the FKLI is still on an uptrend, and the next support will be found at the 1,848 level," he told Bernama.

Turnover amounted to 6,738 lots from 5,736 lots yesterday, while open interest went up to 36,496 contracts, from 35,870 contracts previously.

The underlying FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI ended 10.59 points lower, at 1,852.31.
