Deadline for feedback on Lynas extended
The deadline for the public to give feedback and comments on Lynas (M) Sdn Bhd's application for a temporary operating licence to produce lanthanide has been extended to Jan 24.
The Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry (MOSTI) said the Atomic Energy Licensing Board (AELB) had put the documents on display at the board's headquarters in Dengkil, branch office in Kemaman, temporary office at the Lynas site in Kuantan as well as at the Pahang State Secretariat since Jan 3.
The public display of Lynas documents should have ended today, and the one-week extension was following public requests and in line with the government's effort to ensure People First Performance Now, it said in a statement.
It said the display at the Pahang State Secretariat opens daily including Saturday and Sunday until the new deadline, and the number of documents displayed there had been increased from three to five sets to make easy for the public to make comments.
The deadline for comments and feedback to the AELB, initially set at 12pm Jan 20, was now extended to 4pm Jan 24, MOSTI said.
"In this regard, the public who are interested are invited to come and give comments, and any comments should use the form provided at the display locations," it said. -- BERNAMA
