Berjaya Sports Toto may roll out new game on Saturday
KUALA LUMPUR: Berjaya Sports Toto Bhd, the largest number forecast operator in the country, is expected to introduce a new game to punters as early as this weekend.
The new game, which is believed to be something similar to the 4D Jackpot introduced by Magnum 4D last year, is likely to help the company to grow its sales and expand its market share.
"It has already received the green light from authorities, more importantly, the training has already been conducted. The plan is to make the game available this Saturday," said a source.
Berjaya Sports Toto suffered a decline in its financial year ended April 30 2010, with a 8 per cent fall in revenue at RM3.39 billion and a 7.7 per cent dip in net profit to RM381.74 million.
For the nine months ended January 31 2011, Berjaya Sports Toto's revenue were marginally lower at RM2.53 billion, while net profit declined by almost 20 per cent to RM243.9 million.
In contrast, Multipurpose Holdings Bhd's gaming business Magnum 4D registered an 8 per cent increase in its revenue to RM3.30 billion and a 55 per cent increase in net profit to RM381.46 million, for the 12 months ended December 31 2010. In its filing to Bursa Malaysia Bhd, it attributed its increase in sales largely to the 4D Jackpot, which was introduced in September 2009.
The 4D Jackpot by Magnum allow punters to win millions of ringgit. As at yesterday, the jackpot size was above RM27.4 million. To win the jackpot, the two four-digit numbers that punters purchased would need to appear as any of the top three numbers.
There's also a second jackpot, which punters can win just as long as the pair of four-digit numbers that they bought were among the top three numbers and the 10 special numbers.
