Ringgit extends gains in early trading
The ringgit extended last week's gains in early trading Monday in line with most regional markets, dealers said.
At 9.28 am, the ringgit was traded at 3.1770/1800 against a greenback, up from 3.1830/1860 at Friday's closing.
A
dealer said sentiments were boosted by positive news from europe, which
saw a successful bond sale by Italy and strong earnings results from JP
Morgan, despite US$4.4 billion trading loss.
Against other major currencies, the ringgit was also traded higher.
The
domestic currency was unchanged against the Singapore dollar to
2.5091/5124 from Friday's 2.5091/5130 close and rose against the yen to
4.0139/0192 from 4.0154/0207 last week.
The local unit,
however, weakened against the British pound to 4.9450/9509 from
Friday's 4.9142/9198 close and slipped against the euro to 3.8858/8907
from 3.8839/8885 last week. Bernama
