DRB-Hicom rises on VW interest report (1619)
DRB-Hicom Bhd, an automotive, construction and property group, advanced 2.7 percent to RM2.70 in Kuala Lumpur trading at 9.39am, poised for its highest close since March 12.
Volkswagen AG is interested in buying a stake in DRB-Hicom's Proton Holdings Bhd unit and might consider fully acquiring the carmaker in the long term, Manager Magazin reported, citing unidentified company sources.
Volkswagen spokesman Eric Felber declined to comment on the report by the German monthly magazine. DRB-Hicom Managing Director Mohd Khamil Jamil couldn't be reached for comment when phoned at his office today. -- Bloomberg
