Consumer dividend stocks top gainers
KUALA LUMPUR: Consumer dividend stocks were among the top gainers in
mid-morning trade on Monday while the FBM KLCI managed to recover from
the early losses to test the 1,650 level again.
At 10.21am, the
FBM KLCI was up 0.78 of a point to 1,649. Turnover was 379.55 million
shares valued at RM162.13mil. There were 234 gainers, 216 losers and
207 counters unchanged.
Bloomberg reported Asian stocks swung between gains and losses as China's Premier Wen Jiabao and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben S. Bernanke signalled that central banks would move to boost growth in the world's two largest economies.
It reported that Sharp Corp., a Japanese television maker that gets 20% of sales in China, rose 2.1%. Olympus Corp., the world's largest maker of endoscopes, climbed 3.4% after agreeing to sell unit ITX Corp.'s telecommunications business for 53 billion yen (US$674mil).
Bloomberg said gains were limited by Samsung Electronics Co.'s 6.8% slump in Seoul as a US jury ruled that the world's top maker of smartphones infringed Apple Inc. patents.
At
Bursa Malaysia, Carlsberg rose 32 sen to RM12.42, GAB 30 sen to
RM15.80, F&N 22 sen to RM20.40 while Dutch Lady added 10 sen to
RM41.50.
Aeon Credit climbed 66 sen to RM13.44 and Aeon 16 sen to Rm10.22.
BAT was the top loser, down 80 sen to RM63. SAM fell 23 sen to RM2.62 and SAM-LR 22.2 sen to 13.5 sen.
Bonia lost 21 sen to RM2.38 after its group executive chairman cum CEO Chiang Sang Sem was looking to acquire certain stake at prices ranging from RM1.80 to RM2 a share.
Parkson lost eight sen to RM4.67 after its Hong Kong-listed subsidiary Parkson Retail Group reported lower-than-expected earnings.
