Nestle Malaysia posts RM2.3b turnover (4707)

Nestle Malaysia Bhd has registered RM2.3 billion turnover, 9.5 per cent higher than the same period last year, driven by
both domestic and export businesses.

The
good domestic sales are attributed to the active marketing and
promotional activities initiated during the first half of the year,
complemented by the 100th year celebrations of Nestl' in Malaysia this
year, it said.

Despite the increased marketing investments, the
higher revenue and better absorption of fixed cost helped the profit
before tax to reach RM350.8 million and the net profit to RM278.6
million with 10 basis points (bps) and 40 bps of margin improvement,
respectively.

For the second quarter ended June 30, 2012, the
group registered RM1.15 billion turnover, 10.5 per cent higher than the
same period last year.

The commendable performance came largely from higher domestic sales. -- Bernama
