KPF Quality Foods files RM24m claim against Silver Bird (7136)

KUALA LUMPUR: KPF Quality Foods Sdn Bhd has filed a statement of claim, seeking RM24.32mil from Silver Bird Group Bhd unit Stanson Marketing Sdn Bhd.
Silver Bird said on Tuesday that Stanson was served with a writ of summons and statement of claim by KPF.
“By
the said suit, the plaintiff claims a sum of RM24.32mil, purportedly
being the outstanding amount due and owing to plaintiff, plus interest
thereon at the rate of 8% per annum calculated from July 3, 2012 until
the date of judgment and interest at the rate of 5% per annum
calculated from the date of judgment until the date of full settlement
and costs,” said the company.
Silver Bird said the amount
claimed would not have any financial or operational impact. It added
such claims, if liable, was envisaged to be restructured under the
group's regularisation plan.
It added KPF Quality Foods was
restrained from starting or further proceeding with the suit without
leave of the court due to a restraining order under Section 176(10) of
the Companies Act, 1965, which was granted by the High Court in favour
of Silver Bird on Aug 14.
The company is also currently seeking legal advice with regards to the said suit.
