'Outsourcing ind to record 15pc higher revenue'
Outsourcing Malaysia (OM) expects the outsourcing industry to record a minimum 15 per cent increase in revenue this
year, says chairman David Wong Nan Fay.
He
said the target was achievable by organising trade missions,
conferences and initiatives to penetrate new markets including the
government sector and multinational companies.
The industry was
worth US$1.1 billion in 2009 and the target is to increase revenue to
US$1.9 billion by 2013 with employment of 100,000 workers, Wong told a
press conference in conjunction with Smart Sourcing Summit 2012 here
today.
OM will be organising the Smart Sourcing Summit 2012 from Oct 10-11, 2012, in Kuala Lumpur.
"We
expect the participation of 300 attendees, of which 40 per cent are
typically users or buyers, 10 to 20 per cent from the government sector
and the rest are suppliers and providers," he said.
Minister of
Human Resources, Datuk Seri Dr. S Subramaniam was expected to officiate
the opening ceremony while Minister in the Prime Minister's Department,
Datuk Seri Idris Jala was expected to grace the closing ceremony.
The Smart Sourcing Summit this year is themed "Leapfrogging Competition: From Local to Gobal".
The
summit provides an opportunity for participants to discover and learn
from the industry stalwarts on how Malaysia can attain a better and
more significant role in enabling the regional and global marketplace.
The
summit has lined up many keynote speeches, plenary panels and case
studies on various issues such as leading trends in global outsourcing,
realities of government outsourcing and Malaysia's readiness for
globalisation.
Additionally, OM is also organising the Excellence Award at the end of the second day.
The
OM Excellence Award is presented to companies in Malaysia for creating
compelling value, thereby enhancing Malaysia's position in the global
sourcing marketplace.
