DRB-Hicom in early talks with foreign partners for Proton (1619)
KUALA LUMPUR: DRB-Hicom Bhd has embarked on initial discussions with a few foreign strategic partners to be paired up with national carmaker Proton Holdings Bhd.
Group managing director Datuk Seri Mohd Khamil Jamil said on Thursday: "This is still a long way to go."
"Now we need to put the house in order first before we can bring in any foreign OEM," he said after the AGM.
Khamil said DRB-Hicom also intends to divest 30% stake of its stake in Bank Muamalat.
"The direction is to complete discussion by year end and then we will present our plans to Bank Negara," he said.
