In end-October, JOHORTIN's share price violated the trend line support at RM1.60.
On a technical basis, the trend line support had turned resistance, and the outlook
weakened as a result of the bearish move. In fact, the share price had on several
attempts retested the trend line from below over the past three months. It wasn't
until yesterday that the share price decisively penetrated the trend again. Yesterday,
the share price ended 11 sen higher at RM1.93. Trading volumes were relatively high
for the day, and the MACD Histogram is expanding. As with INGRESS, we reckon that
momentum would likely carry the share price higher in the near term, and the share
price should make decent intraday trades as well. The immediate resistance is likely
to be present at RM2.04 and RM2.20, while support is located at RM1.89 and RM1.79.

Japan’s Abe Unveils 10.3 Trillion Yen Fiscal Boost to Growth

A fiscal boost may help Abe maintain support for his Liberal Democratic Party before upper house elections in July as the yen weakens and stocks rally. The extra spending may heighten concerns that the government’s commitment to fiscal reform is slipping, adding to the risk that a public debt at more than twice the size of the economy may trigger a surge in bond yields.
“Abe will probably give the economy more shots in the arm and turn a blind eye to fiscal discipline until the elections,” said Hiroaki Muto, a senior economist at Sumitomo Mitsui Asset Management Co. in Tokyo. “There’s a risk that long-term bond yields will rise unless the government takes measures to restore fiscal health.”
The government will compile a 13.1 trillion yen extra budget to help pay for the stimulus, according to the statement. The Ministry of Finance told bond investors during meetings yesterday that the extra spending will require additional bond issuance to the market.
Abe has said ending deflation, which weighs on growth by dissuading consumer spending, is the most urgent issue for Japan along with currency strength that hurts exporters. He’s aiming to establish a policy accord with the Bank of Japan (8301) to set a 2 percent target for annual consumer price gains, twice the central bank’s current goal.

Economic Contraction
Japan’s gross domestic product shrank at an annualized 3.5 percent pace in the third quarter after contracting in the three months through June, meeting the textbook definition of a recession. The median estimate of economists surveyed by Bloomberg News is for a 0.6 percent contraction in the three months through December 2012, with growth in the three months to March seen at 1.6 percent.
The total size of the economic measures will reach 20.2 trillion yen when local government and private sector contributions are taken into account, the government said.
Abe’s extra spending will help deliver real annualized GDP growth of 3.5 percent in the second quarter of this year, Nomura Securities Co. said in a report this week. The brokerage raised its GDP forecast for the fiscal year starting in April to 1.8 percent from 1 percent, citing the impact of the stimulus program and improved prospects for exports with the weaker yen and a recovery in the U.S.
