CCM's unit confident meeting sales target
KANGAR: CCM Pharmaceuticals Sdn Bhd is confident of meeting its sales
target of more than RM300 million for this year, driven by the
introduction of five new products, senior manager, OTC Marketing,
Shamsul Idham Ahad said.
"Among the products are Naturalle with Tongkat Ali for men and Kacip
Fatimah for women. Both were launched in February, and are specially
manufactured for the local market," he told Bernama on the sidelines of
the Malaysia Unit Trust Week 2013 (MSAM) here.
Last year, the company recorded sales of RM285 million.
Shamsul said the company is aiming to penetrate the international
market for its new products, but that would take another two years as
this is the norm for pharmaceutical products, which are bound by the
regulatory timeline.
At present, CCM Pharmaceuticals core products are Champs, Proviton,
Flavettes and Naturalle, which are also available in Southeast Asia
through a joint venture.
"We have a joint venture with an Indonesian company and our products are manufactured locally there," said Shamsul.
He said although the four brands are on the best-sellers list of CCM
Pharmaceuticals, the company has more products, and will actively
upgrade packaging designs to enhance attractiveness as
well as being consumer friendly.
"We have to also create brand awareness to increase our market
share. Participation in the MSAM is one of the initiatives towards this
end," he added.
This year, CCM Pharmaceuticals celebrates its 50th anniversary and
is collaborating with some local universities by recruiting their
pharmacy students to interact with MSAM visitors.
Besides selling the company's products at discount prices, the students also undertake free health screening for the visitors.
CMM Pharmaceuticals was the first company in Malaysia to obtain the
Halal certification based on Malaysian standards, and this has given it
an advantage in attracting the MSAM 2013 visitors, who are mostly
