FBM KLCI closed lower amid thin volume
KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI closed the first trading day of the week
in red, amid listless trade as investors decide to remain on the
sidelines ahead of the general election.
At 5pm, the FBM KLCI was
down 3.32 points or 0.19% to 1,707.97. Turnover was 682.52 million
shares valued at RM1.4 billion. There were 208 gainers, 495 losers and
289 counters unchanged.
During the day, SapuraKencana Petroleum Bhd climbed 8 sen to 2.6% after it completed its private placement. It was the most active as well.
While Silver Bird Group Bhd
surged 1.5 sen or 23% to 8 sen, StarBiz reported that the confectionary
manufacturer is targeting to breakeven in six months time.
Key
regional markets were broadly lower, Japan's Nikkei 225 declined 0.3% to
13,884.13, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index gained 0.15% to 22,580.77,
Shanghai's Composite Index inched down 0.97% to 2,177.91.
Taiwan's
Taiex climbed 0.1% to 8,029.74, South Korea's Kospi shed 0.2% to
1,940.70 and Singapore's Straits Times Index gained 0.27% to 3,357.79.
US light crude oil increased 17 cent to US$93.17, and Brent lost 19 cent to US$102.97.
Spot gold inched up US8.76 to US$1,470.85 per troy ounce, while the Ringgit strengthened to 3.0326.
While benchmark crude palm oil futures lost RM36 to RM2,280.
