KUALA LUMPUR (May 7): TELEKOM MALAYSIA BHD [] (TM) targets
to maintain its positive performance this year boosted by Internet data
and multimedia segments, said Group Chief Executive Officer Datuk
Seri Zamzamraini Mohd Isa.
He said although there were new competitors in the market, TM would
be able to maintain its leadership position as the fixed broadband
provider in the country.
"For now, we're (TM) still in a very strong position as the broadband
champion. We have also came out with new offers as well as
enhancement products.
"It is good to have competition in the market because it will ensure that
we will deliver a better value for money to our customers," he told press conference after the company's annual general
meeting here today.
Zamzamraini said TM's revenue was expected to increase by six per cent this year from a total revenue of RM10 billion
achieved last year.
The company had allocated up to 24 per cent of last year's revenue as capital expenditure for 2013, he added.
Commenting on the general election results, he said the outcome was "good news" for TM.
"Looking at the stock market performance, the business community is very positive about it and the FBM KLCI (FTSE Bursa
Malaysia KLCI) has reached historic level.
"I think it's (the results) good for us too because TM is also doing business (shares listed on the stock exchange)," he said. --
