KUALA LUMPUR (May 9): DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang dismissed
proposals that the party link up with Barisan Nasional (BN) to form a
coalition government.
"It seems that a lot of new angles of suggestions and proposal are
coming up. Let's give them time to give various suggestions and we will
deal with them accordingly," said Lim.
"But I'm not giving any consideration to these proposals," he added at a
pess conference at DAP's headquarters today.
Lim was asked to comment on the proposal by former information
minister Tan Sri Zainuddin Maidin for DAP to join the national coalition so
that the Chinese are represented in the interest of harmony and political
stability.
Zainuddin noted on his blog Zamkata that the community is too elated
about Pakatan Rakyat's gains to feel the "pain" of their interests not
being represented.
This comes after MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek stated that
the leaders from its party will not take up cabinet or state level positions
after the staggering loss suffered in Sunday's general election.
MCA only won seven out of the 15 parliamentary seats it won in the
2008 polls.
Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (Asli) had also proposed to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to include Pakatan
Rakyat members of parliament to form the government.
