Malaysia trade with France to soar this year
Bilateral trade between Malaysia and France is expected to increase this year from the more than 5.5 billion euros
recorded in 2012.
The
French Ambassador to Malaysia, Martine Dorance said both countries had
maintained good relations in economy, trade, education and politics.
"France
is importing more of Malaysia's electronic components. Malaysia is
buying more planes from us," she said told reporters on the sidelines
of the Malaysian-French Seminar on Architecture and Urban Planning
today.
Last year, bilateral trade was in favour of France due to the large number of aircraft purchases, she added.
Martine also expects more French companies to set up business in
Malaysia, particularly French small and medium enterprises.
According to the ambassador, there are about 265 French companies in Malaysia.
Meanwhile,
Francois Matraire, the trade and commercial counsellor at the French
embassy here, said large companies from France had also set up business
in Iskandar Malaysia in Johore.
"There are some big investments
from companies like Technip in the Iskandar Region. Investments are
coming from various industries such as high end equipment for the oil
and gas sector," he added.-- Bernama
