MATRADE: Malaysian oil & gas firms clinch RM5.5 billion worth of projects

KUALA LUMPUR (May 21): The Malaysian delegation of 29 oil and gas
companies, government agencies and related associations to the
recently concluded Offshore TECHNOLOGY [] Conference (OTC) in
Houston, Texas generated RM5.5 billion worth of projects and product
sales, said Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation
(MATRADE).
In a statement Tuesday, MATRADE chief executive officer Datuk Dr
Wong Lai Sum said the Malaysian Pavilion at the OTC consisted of
major players as well as SMEs in the Malaysian oil and gas industry and
it was encouraging to note that SME exhibitors were able to generate
sales and projects worth RM889 million.
Wong recommended Malaysian SMEs in the oil and gas industry to
collaborate among themselves in order to achieve the economies of
scale to be in the supply chain of the bigger players.
Meanwhile, DELEUM BHD [] was chosen by the OTC to present a
technical paper entitled Thermo Chemical In-Situ Heat Generation
Technique to Remove Organic Solid Deposition: Effective Tool for
Production Enhancement and Flow Assurance while Wasco Energy
Group was awarded the OTC 2013 Spotlight Award for the new
Neptune material.
Wong said OTC recognises innovative technologies annually through the
Spotlight on New Technology Award.
According to Wasco, the trials on the line pipe grade of Neptune were
performed for clients in its Kuantan facility, however, the Neptune
material can also be offered to clients from the Bayou-Wasco (BWI)
facility in New Iberia, Louisiana.
All the equipment design for the BWI plant came from engineers in
Malaysia and Italy, added Wong.
