KUALA LUMPUR (May 28): MULTI-PURPOSE HOLDINGS BHD []’s
(MPHB) board believes the group’s demerger exercise will unlock the
value of the respective entities to benefit all shareholders, said
Chairman Datuk Seri Razman M Hashim.
In a Chairman’s statement for MPHB’s latest annual report, Razman
said its gaming division, which will remain in the company after the
demerger, will continue to focus on creating market presence and
increase its topline through brand loyalty and marketing programmes.
“Generally, the volume of sales is largely dependent on the disposal
income of the general public and the pool size of the 4D Jackpot game,”
he said.
On a macro level, Razman said the country’s economy will be primarily
domestically driven. This, he added, became more pronounced by the
commencement of projects led by the Economic Transformation
Programme (ETP).
“The ETP, coupled with private sector expansion, has sustained the
domestic economy which has in turn averted inflationary and
unemployment issues,” Razman said.
MPHB is undergoing an internal structuring where its non-gaming
businesses will be spun off into a new company called MPHB Capital
Bhd.
MPHB, meanwhile, will assume a new identity of Magnum Bhd, named after its gaming brand.
