KUALA LUMPUR (May 31): MUHIBBAH ENGINEERING (M) BHD []'s pre-tax profit for the first quarter ended March 31, 2013 increased to RM29.927 million from RM24.697 million in the same period previously.
Revenue, however, decreased to RM386.209 million from RM419.203 million previously, the company said in its filing to Bursa Malaysia today.
"The Group has made full provision for the remaining net exposure of debts due from Asia Petroleum Hub Sdn Bhd of RM245 million during the fourth quarter ended Dec 31, 2012," the group said.
It said the concession division made commendable contribution, especially with the increase in passenger arrivals, for its airport operations in Cambodia.
"With the conclusion of the general election, more infrastructure projects will be rolled out under Malaysia's economic transformation programme in the
near term.
"The group will endeavour to secure those works and projects which are in line with our niche and track record as a oil and gas specialist in the infrastructure, offshore platform cranes and offshore support vessel sectors," it added.
