Che Khalib to take over at helm of MMC from July 1
PETALING JAYA: [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh]Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh[/url] (pic) has been appointed [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=MMC Corp Bhd]MMC Corp Bhd[/url] group managing director, succeeding [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Datuk Hasni Harun]Datuk Hasni Harun[/url] whose contract is expiring on June 30.
This confirms a StarBiz report on June 5 that the former [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Tenaga Nasional Bhd]Tenaga Nasional Bhd[/url] chief was tipped to head the conglomerate.
In a statement, MMC said that Che Khalib, who would be taking up the top management position with effect from July 1, brought to MMC his vast management experience, having served at senior leadership positions in various industries.
“He will play a pivotal role in driving the group’s diversified operations in the three core businesses of energy and utilities, ports and logistics and engineering and construction,” it said.

According to the statement, Hasni is leaving MMC to pursue other interests and will continue to be the chairman of [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Gas Malaysia Bhd]Gas Malaysia Bhd[/url], an associate company of MMC.
During his tenure, Hasni oversaw key corporate exercises such as the acquisition of [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Malakoff Corp Bhd]Malakoff Corp Bhd[/url], [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Aliran Ihsan Resources Bhd]Aliran Ihsan Resources Bhd[/url] and [url=http://archives.thestar.com.my/search/?q=Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd]Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd[/url] as well as the listing of Gas Malaysia.
He has also played a leading role in securing notable large infrastructure projects namely the 1,000-MW Tanjung Bin Power Plant extension, RM12.485bil Ipoh to Padang Besar electrified double track project as well as the project delivery partner and the RM8.28bil underground works package contractor for the Klang Valley MRT Project – Sungai Buloh-Kajang Line, according to the statement.
