KUALA LUMPUR (June 17): The FBM KLCI clawed back into positive territory at mid-morning on Monday, reversing its earlier losses.

At 10am, the FBM KLCI rose 1.25 points to 1,763.44.

Gainers edged losers by 202 to 195, while 203 counters traded unchanged. Volume was 370.42 million shares valued at RM177.05 million.

Among the gainers were Datasonic, Ireka, Shangri-La, Minho, United PLANTATION []s, BAT, A&M, Maypack and Timecom.

MAS was the most actively traded counter with 44.6 million shares done. The stock gained one sen to 31 sen.

The other actives included Patimas, TMS, Prinsiptek, Hovid, DVM, Etitech, Sycal and DBE Gurney.

The losers included GAB, HDBS, Carlsberg, UMS, Sarawak Oil Palm, Tenaga, TN Logistics, Tanjung Offshore and HLFG.

Meanwhile, Asian shares inched lower and the dollar remained defensive on Monday as investors settled in to wait for the U.S. Federal Reserve meeting outcome later in the week - and some long-awaited clarity on its intentions for monetary stimulus, according to Reuters.

Wall Street fell on Friday for its third negative week in four as investors took profits, and the dollar posted its worst week in almost four years against the yen as data showed the U.S. economic recovery still lacked strength to warrant an imminent change in the Fed's current accommodative policy, it said.
