KUALA LUMPUR: Felda Global Ventures Holdings Bhd (FGV) is eyeing regional markets for its range of bath soap and shower cream marketed under the Purich brand that was officially launched yesterday.
FGV, through its associate company Delima Oil Products Sdn Bhd, plans to distribute the personal-care products in countries that the agribusiness group has a foothold, namely Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and the Philippines.
"For Purich personal care, we are looking at a sales target of RM3 million this year," said Delima Oil CEO Zakaria Arshad.
"The launch of the new Purich range is a testimony of the group's on-going efforts to add variety to product offerings beyond cooking oil and palm oil olein products, in line with consumer needs," he added.
FGV chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said Purich is Delima Oil's first fast-moving, non-food consumer product.
"We hope this will become a catalyst for Delima Oil so that it would become successful in its downstream businesses," said Isa, adding that that the group is confident of Purich's potential to strengthen its downstream business activities.
Isa said much more effort is needed to move forward and maintain Malaysia's dominance in the palm oil industry, especially when it comes to the production of palm oil product variances other than crude palm oil.
He added that it is time to focus on aspects that could empower the industry and one of the measures that could be taken is to explore downstream activities that offer sizeable returns.
