KUALA LUMPUR (Sept 4): BINA PURI HOLDINGS BHD []'s wholly-owned subsidiary, Bina Puri Sdn Bhd, has bagged a contract from the consortium of Apex Energy Sdn Bhd and PT Rekayasa Industri worth RM67.23 million.

In a filing to Bursa Malaysia, Bina Puri Holdings said the contract was for the supply, fabrication and CONSTRUCTION [] of civil works for the Sabah Ammonia Urea (Samur) project Package 7 in Sipitang, Sabah.

It said the scope of works included foundation works, earthworks, internal drain, concrete works, pipe and masonry works, water proof works, acid and proofing works and others.

"The works shall be completed within eleven months. The group's current unbuilt orderbook stands at RM1.52 billion to date.

"The contract is expected to contribute positively to Bina Puri Group's earnings for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2013," it said.

Located in Sipitang Oil and Gas Industrial Park, the world-class project by Petronas Chemicals Group Bhd consisted of a urea plant, a granulation plant and an ammonia plant, as well as utilities and jetty facilities.

Meanwhile, in a separate statement, Bina Puri Holdings said this contract was the second package of Samur project awarded to the group, following the award for Package 3 valued at RM22.35 million, secured in June this year.

Group Managing Director Tan Sri Datuk Tee Hock Seng said Bina Puri is confident of completing the works successfully, given its track record of having worked in Sabah on more than RM1.5 billion worth of completed projects since July 1994.

For the current year, the group is currently constructing the new Sabah State Administrative Centre worth RM388.7 million, and the KK Time Square worth RM470.3 million.
