KUALA LUMPUR: The securities of FCW Holdings Bhd, which is controlled by the low-key Tan Sri Tan Sri Robert Tan Hua Choon, hit limit-up on Tuesday in the absence of strong newsflow.

At 2.53pm, the shares surged 30 sen to RM1.11 with 393,600 shares done while its warrants jumped 30 sen to 68 sen with 57,700 units done.

The FBM KLCI slipped 0.6 of a point to 1,770.20. Turnover was 915.46 million shares valued at RM857.86mil. There were 367 gainers, 254 losers and 294 counters unchanged.

Tan was appointed as director and chairman of FCW on Jan 26, 1999 and Feb 16, 2000 respectively.

The self-made businessman is involved in a wide range of businesses which include manufacturing, marketing, banking, shipping, property development and trading.

He is the chairman of Jasa Kita Bhd, GPA Holdings Bhd, Keladi Maju Bhd, Malaysia Aica Bhd, Marco Holdings Bhd and PDZ Holdings Bhd. He joined the board of Goh Ban Huat Bhd on July 8, 2008 as non-independent non-executive director.
