KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 3): The FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) futures contracts on Bursa Malaysia Derivatives closed higher today, in line with the cash market, as the positive Chinese economic data lifted market sentiments.

Phillip Futures Sdn Bhd Dealer Tan Sek Wei said, the FBM KLCI futures spot month contract saw solid opening, and extended gains to close at the highest level of 1,779.

"However, concerns on the US debt limit and a possibility of a default, are rising," he added.

At close, October 2013 and November 2013 gained 10 points each, to settle at 1,778.5 each.
December 2013 rose nine points to 1,778.5, and March 2014 added 14 points to 1,778.

Turnover dwindled to 3,480 lots, from yesterday's 5,115, while open interest fell to 43,605 contracts, from 44,707 contracts Wednesday.

The underlying FBM KLCI closed 1.02 points higher, at 1,771.37.
