KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 17):  Pelaburan Mara Bhd (PMB), a wholly-owned subsidiary of MARA, today signed a strategic collaboration agreement with 1Machine System Sdn Bhd, the producer of Malaysia's first anti-virus system.
Through the agreement, PMB will assist 1Machine System to commercialise  innovative anti-virus system products or internet security software services  produced by Bumiputera companies among government agencies and its own subsidiaries, apart from marketing it at the regional or global levels.
PMB chairman Datuk Sohaimi Shahadan said the collaboration signed was one of MARA's investment strategies to make the company a foremost investment and asset management entity.
"The business activities of PMB are being expanded by having a majority equity holding in companies in the infrastructure, real estate, oil and gas as well as technology sectors," he said at the signing ceremony here.
He also said the collaboration provides an opportunity for students completing their studies at MARA colleges and its other institutions to undergo industrial training, obtaining information, as well as cooperating in the technology and innovation sectors.
Sohaimi signed the agreement for PMB, while, IMachine System chief executive officer Abbyamir Sapie signed for the company.
The event was witnessed by the Deputy Director General of Education Datuk Abdul Rahim Abdul Ghani and 1Machine System chairman Datuk Megat Fairouz Junaidi Megat Junid.
Meanwhile, Abbyamir said 1Machine after the first commercial production of its anti-virus system, was now expanding its business to the United kingdom and  South Sudan, as its first step towards entering the global market.
"1Machine hopes the government can extend more support to companies like us. It need not be only in the form of funding or finance, but from the aspect of promoting and introducing 1Machine to the international stage," he said when asked to comment on expectations for the Budget 2014 to be announced on Oct 25.
