TM Executive Vice President, SME, Azizi A Hadi said he believed the government would continue to offer incentives to SMEs through agencies like SME Corp and the SME Bank, in applying ICT as a tool in their businesses.
"From the last statistics I viewed, about 30 per cent of SMEs in Malaysia have adopted some form of ICT.
"But we want greater participation and for them to go beyond what has been achieved to date," he added.
He was speaking to the media here after the launch of the all-new Unifi package with Microsoft Office 365, an enhancement to TM's existing Unifi business package.
Azizi urged SMEs to acquire more knowledge on how ICT can help them communicate, collaborate, on sharing files or information with their colleagues, customers and so forth.
"We are currently working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) in providing RM1000 to those SMEs that create their own websites.
"It is cheap to create a website now. So, we hope they will utilise the incentive being given to them," he said.
Meanwhile, the all-new Unifi package is a collaboration between TM and Microsoft (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd.
The package offers cloud-powered communications facilities and the Microsoft Office 365 productivity suite for Malaysian businesses.
It allows users to enjoy high speed internet connection with speeds up to 50Mbps, competitive call rates and two complimentary Microsoft Office 365 suites.
It also is aimed at helping businesses take care of their IT needs, so that they can concentrate on what they do best - managing and driving their businesses. --BERNAMA
