Eye on stock - IVORY

IVORY Properties Group Bhd has been on a downward momentum shortly after its maiden listing on the Main Market under the property sector on July 28, last year.

After starting out at RM1.15 against an initial public offering of RM1 for a premium of 15 sen, this stock marched on, hitting an intra-day high of RM1.41 the next day. The positive momentum, however, was quick to puncture on a fresh bout of profit-taking activity and soon, prices succumbed to tremendous stress to retreat, touching an all-time low of 89.5 sen on June 1.

Thereafter, this stock turned range-bound on bargain hunting interest, with an upside capping at the 94 sen mark and based on the daily bar chart, the sideways pattern lasted for a month before renewed buying emerges, lifting it to a high of 98.5 sen yesterday.

Apparently, the oscillator per cent K and the oscillator per cent D of the daily slow-stochastic momentum index continued to rise after triggering a short-term buy at the oversold area on Monday. Also on the rise, the 14-day relative strength index improved from the mid-range to settle at around the 80 points level yesterday.

The past several days saw the daily moving average convergence/divergence histogram expanding sharply and positively against the daily trigger line to retain the bullish note. It flashed a buy on June 8.

For now, Ivory remains bearish but the latest price action and technical reading give us an indication that it may have bottomed out.

The immediate resistance is envisaged at the RM1-RM1.01 band, followed by the 200-day SMA of RM1.08, of which a successful penetration will signal a bullish turnaround. Support is maintained at the recent lows of 89.5 sen. By K.M. Lee
