KUALA LUMPUR: Dufu Technology Corporation Bhd’s loss widened for the third quarter ended Sept 30 (3QFY13) on depreciation of assets and minimal wage imposed by the Malaysian government.

The HDD manufacturer’s loss for the 3QFY13 deepened to RM2.1 million from RM1.6 million a year ago.

Its revenue fell to RM25.0 million from RM28.9 million in the same period last year.

In a note to the exchange, the group attributed the lower revenue to the increase in depreciation of property, plant and equipment of RM100,000.

This was coupled with the impact of minimal wages imposed by Malaysia Government.

For the nine months period (9MFY13), the group recorded loss of RM1.0 million. The loss was against RM678,000 profit in the same period last year.

Revenue slumped to RM78.4 million from RM91.5 million a year ago.

Looking forward, the group expects the hard disk drive (HDD) sector to stay flat in the coming quarters.

“However, for current quarter under review, the group achieved an improved product mix ratio (HDD : Non-HDD) of 63% : 37% as compared to 71% : 29% achieved in financial year 2012,” said the group.

The HDD maker anticipates continued growth from non-HDD sector such as sensor and control and medical devices, which will contribute positively to its results.
