KUALA LUMPUR (Nov 25): Sapura Industrial Bhd recorded third quarter net profit of RM5.3 million, up 33% from RM4.0 million in the previous corresponding period. It declared a dividend of 3 sen per share.

Revenue for the third quarter increased by 8% to RM71.8 million from RM66.3 million in the previous corresponding quarter.

For the nine months to September 2013 (9MFY13), the group made a net profit of RM11.5 million compared to RM11.1 million in the previous corresponding quarter.

There was a slight increase in revenue for 9MFY13 to RM200 million from RM199 million in 9MFY12.

The group attributed the improvement in revenue for 9MFY13 to improved sales for certain domestic car models.

The improved net profit for the period was due to the continuous cost improvement initiatives.

“Moving forward, the group is cautious that market conditions will continue to be challenging for the automotive sector,” said the group in the notes to its statement.

“As such, the group has intensified its efforts to further strengthen operational efficiency,” the group added.

The group declared a dividend payment of 3 sen per share, payable on 10 December 2013.
